The WSD Nutcracker features ballet students from the Washington School of Dance in Bothell and Snohomish. Our youngest performers are part of our Very Young Dance programs, while the rest of our cast spans Levels I through V. We even invite some of our studio Moms and Dads to be part of our Parent/Child Waltz. Participation in the WSD Nutcracker allows our students to develop their stage skills, and offers them the opportunity to share their love of dance and performance with their community.
It's Christmas Eve at the home of the Stalhbaum Family. Daughter Clara is excited to celebrate the holiday with family and friends at a big party in the family living room. The party features presents, dancing and a wonderful demonstration of wind up toys. Clara's Uncle Drosselmeyer brings her a very special gift - a Nutcracker Doll!
After the party has ended, Clara returns to the living room to discover something amazing. Her Nutcracker Doll has come to life! Clara and her Nutcracker Doll then embark on a magical adventure together - a tremendous battle with giant mice, a journey through a snowy forest, and visit to the Kingdom of Sweets, where dancers from around the world entertain them with lively music and beautiful costumes.
